• Rocket Pool, one of the oldest Ethereum liquid staking protocols, has just announced its deployment on zkSync Era.
• Users can now use rETH token for cheaper on the network and deploy it on other decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms.
• According to data from Rocket Pool’s website, currently, 687,456 ETH is being staked with the project.
Rocket Pool Deploys on zkSync Era
Rocket Pool has deployed on zkSync Era. This allows users to use rETH in DeFi protocols on zkSync Era. Rocket Pool is the second-largest liquid staking protocol in the industry and is one of the oldest Ethereum liquid staking protocols.
Users Can Use rETH Token
Users can now use rETH token for cheaper transactions and deploy it on other decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms. According to data from Rocket Pool’s website, currently, 687,456 ETH is being staked with the project.
zkSync Era Is Still in Beta
While this is an exciting development for the Ethereum community, users should be aware that zkSync Era is still in beta and is considered centralized. It uses zero-knowledge proofs to increase throughput and lower transaction fees but there are still risks associated with using Layer-2 scaling solutions which should be taken into consideration by users before they decide to stake their funds with Rocket Pool or any other protocol for that matter.
Increasing Attention from Industry Incumbents
Ethereum Layer-2 scaling projects are increasingly getting more attention from industry incumbents as more established projects move to newly launched but promising Layer-2 scaling projects such as Optimism or Arbitrum which both use fraud proofs to scale Ethereum.
Ultimately, all major protocols are expected to move to rollups to increase throughput and decrease costs while preserving Ethereum’s security which makes this announcement a welcomed sign from Rocket Pool as it expands beyond Ethereum mainnet onto Layer- 2 solutions like zkSync Era .
